Yesterday, I realized how sporadically I had been feeding Daphne solid foods. With Jared in the hospital, she wasn't getting much to eat. It is normally his job to feed her. He gives her something to eat while I do the cooking, but lately, I am lucky if I get to do the cooking.
So, yesterday when she was cranky and didn't want to nurse, I went to the kitchen and pulled out the baby food, and she was excited.
The story is that she does NOT like to eat from a spoon. She doesn't get the point, and all she wants to do is throw the spoon on the floor. She doesn't like that the spoon is not edible and she wonders why we keep trying to give it to her.
So, a while ago, we developed a new method. Since the food is still pretty liquid, I have been just putting the cup up to her mouth and she sips the food like it is a drink.
As a side note, she also likes to drink out of straws. I have a purple container that has a straw built in, and she gets excited every time she sees it. She wants to drink from it all the time, and I let her.
I finally put two and two together yesterday, and tried putting the straw in the peaches. It turns out that it was a brilliant idea.
She must have been hungry or something because she ate more than a measuring cup full of peaches over the span of about an hour. So now, I've got a way to feed her. And you know what, she slept REALLY well last night!!!

Hi Chris - It sounds like you've had your hands full the past few days, with Jared in the hospital, full-time Daphne-care, and prepping for the show! Just wanted to say hi... let me know when you want to come over... I understand if things are too crazy right now!
This is funny for me on about eight different levels. :)
