Ok, so Jared is now in the hospital.
This is not really something to be alarmed about right now, I think we both think that it is a pretty good thing. Not that going to the hospital is a good thing every really, but we think that we night have a good plan to keep his colitis under control and possibly get him back into tip top shape.
We went to go see the doctor on Wednesday, and she agreed that if he wasn't doing well that the best thing would be to admit him to the hospital where he can get 24 hour care and some TPN (artificial, intravenous nutrition). So after the appointment, we drove on up to OHSU and admitted him.
There are TONS of doctors up there, and they all have their opinion about what needs to happen, and it took us actually 2 days to sort out any kind of a plan on what to do with him.
Here is the plan
1.) Give him the maximum amount of IV iron possible.
2.) Give him TPN while in the hospital and likely even after he goes home
3.) Keep him eating lots of food
4.) Give him his next Remicade infusion while in the hospital still
They also determined as definitely as possible that he does not have Crohns disease, he has Colitis. The good news with that is that if he were to want to do the colectomy surgery in the future, he would have a good chance of being cured 100%
So, he is just trying to gain his strength back while up there. After that, he will come home and continue to try to heal, then we will see where we are at on the whole surgery thing.
That is where I have disappeared to over the last while.
