Tiny Footprints in the Sand

I often pay attention to the "little things" especially when I'm holding a camera.

I loved the footprints that Daphne left in the sand, so I documented one.

Beach Walk

We went for a nice walk to the beach in the sun and the wind. Daphne enjoyed exploring the sand and the water.

An experimental "family photo".

How cute is my baby? I got comments everywhere, especially about that pretty skirt her mama made her.
A rare photo of Daphne and mama not taken by mama.

Wind!

We knew that going to the Oregon coast was going to be a crapshoot in terms of weather. It rained on us the first day, but the second day was sunny, albeit windy. Check out Daphne's hair.

Resort

Daphne settled in to the resort just fine.

She took to running down the halls (never would have guessed).

It was just like home (note the toothbrush)!

Seaside Aquarium

We went to the Seaside Aquarium while we were at the coast. It is a fun little aquarium that is privately owned. They were having an open house so the admission was free. Daphne liked looking at all the fish and the animals, but she was not too sure about touching them. We finally got her to touch an anemone and a starfish!

Touching the starfish.

No way mom... those are scary sea monsters down there.
Look, it's totally safe...

Ecola State Park

The first place we went this weekend was Ecola State Park. We were hoping to get there before the tide started to come back in so we could see some tide pools.

Unfortunately, we missed that completely, and we were unable to find any tide pools at all. We enjoyed spending time at the beach even though it was cold and raining.

Here is Daphne and her daddy enjoying themselves.

A cute little art shot.
Jared was showing Daphne how to write in the sand. She has some moon sand to play with, but there is nothing like a beach to play on.
Daphne hamming up the camera.
A nice little family shot.

Daphne believes that the ocean exists to throw rocks into. We spent a lot of time picking up rocks and throwing hem at the ocean. Turns out, it's really fun to live in the mind of a 2 year old.

Woah dad... look at that big rock.

Ready To Go

Daphne loves her daddy's hat, and it was a welcome thing to wear to the Oregon coast in March.

Asked to Leave

Jared, Daphne and I went on a nice little vacation to Seaside this weekend (Sunday and Monday). When we got there yesterday, we were pretty hungry, so we stopped by a cute little restaurant to get something to eat.

We walked in the door and waiting to be seated by the hostess, but no one was around. People were running around the restaurant serving other people, but we were ignored. After standing there for almost 10 minutes, one of the bus boys walked up and asked us if we would leave and come back in 15 minutes.

We weren't sure why we were being asked to leave, but it sure can't be good for business.

Luckily, we found a fantastic restaurant down the road that was happy to take our money.

Woolies

My woolies were all dry when I got home today, so I'm going to use the first one on Daphne tonight for bedtime (because I am trying to potty train her). I hope she doesn't pee in it, but only God knows what will really happen.

Monies

Daphne is learning a lot about money lately. Every time I go shopping and buy something with a credit card she asks if she can help. She likes to slide the card and help put the pin number in.

Sometimes, when I am not looking, she will get credit cards out of my purse and start "running" them anywhere she can find. The most popular space is below the space bar on a keyboard that Jared lets her play with.

I was realizing at some point that she did not know what paper money was because she was planning to cut up some dollars that I had laying around. We started paying for some things in cash, and she got the hang of what "monies" are for.

While we were gone this weekend, we ate out a few times and paid with cash each time. At every restaurant, she took the cash to the waitress and said she wanted to pay the monies.

At the diner we ate at this morning, she gave the money to the waitress and stood there waiting for something back (even though there was no change due). The waitress gave her a quarter for her effort as a commission.

We then walked around the road, and she took the quarter and tried to put it into every slot she could find to get things to turn on. There was a design in the bottom of every light pole with a hole in the middle. Daphne took the quarter to every light pole and turned the quarter in the design. I'm not sure what she thought she was paying for, but she sure had a lot of fun doing it!

Many Forks

Sometimes Daphne helps me unload the dishwasher in the morning. She likes to keep all the forks to herself. Here she decided to use all the forks she could get her hands on to eat her pancake.

They fell on the floor one by one and were put back in the dishwasher.

Popsicles

We often give Daphne popsicles as a bribe for not peeing in her diaper overnight. They are one of her favorite things in the entire world.

She is trying to play peek-a-boo here.
and here.
Loving the Popsicle.

Couldn't she model?

Making Cupcakes

I made some cupcakes for Valentines Day. Daphne got to help me do it.

This is what happens when you let the baby lick the batter.

So She Had Pink Eye

Daphne had some irritated eyes a while ago, and I wasn't sure it was a big deal. I took some measures to handle it, but it didn't seem that bad. I took some photos to document it, and now that I look at them, they look REALLY bad. I was sure she did not have pink eye, but the photos don't lie.

It went away totally with a homeopathic remedy. Thank god for them and for a papa that knows the right one without having to fumble through several books and Internet pages.

Funny Story

One day I was in the bathroom and I heard Daphne crying like she was hurt. When I got out to see what she was doing, I found that she had her head stuck in the cabinet. You see, the babyproofing things for the cabinets had broken, so I was using a rubber band to hold the knobs together. She pulled the rubber band just far enough to stick her head in and got stuck.

Funny thing is that she tried to do it several more times before I got another babyproofing thing.

Many Faces

I was trying to document the many faces of Daphne one day, and I got a good shot at it. Of course, she was grumpy that I wouldn't let her hold the camera while I was trying to use it!

Bikes

Satori came over for a short visit one day and they got out the bikes. Don't they look like biker chicks?

Jam Face

I made a whole bunch of jam last summer, and we occasionally have it for breakfast.

If you ever wonder why eating photos usually have Daphne naked, take a gander at this one. This is why she rarely wears clothes to eat.
